Gardening

In school we have a herb garden, a kitchen garden, a polytunnel and fruit trees and bushes. We encourage the children to do lots of different jobs, depending on the season. We like them to experience planting, tend to and harvesting of the fruits and vegetables that they grow.

As we are out all year round it would be helpful if the children had old clothes and wellies/old trainers in school on their gardening days. Anyone willing to help with gardening in school would be very welcome, please let the office know if you are interested.

Gardening Plan

June

Sow Spinach for Autumn/Winter use. Peg down strawberry runners to make new plants. Sow salad, radish and beans. Build cane structures for the peas and beans. Earth up onions.

July Weed, water and weed! Pick up and dry herbs. Thin seedlings. Set up irrigation system for the poly tunnel.
September Start harvesting fruits and vegetables!
Winter Months

Clear the beds for new crops. Clear flower beds for replanting. Clear forest for space. Trim and tidy areas around school.

We like to give our parents and adults the chance to garden too. Keep up to date with our weekly newsletters for dates and activities!

We look forward to seeing you there!
